HERMIONE GRANGER Age: Twenty-One. Date of Birth: 19 September 1979. Affiliation: The Order of the Phoenix. Occupation: Employed at the Ministry of Magic in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Former House/Years: Gryffindor. Attended from 1991-1997. Bloodline: Muggleborn. Marital Status: In a relationship with Ronald Weasley. Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual. |
Appearance. Compared to Harry and Ronald, Hermione is far from being on the tall side. Opposed to her two male friends, she reaches the height of only five feet and three inches. It's always been a rather hard task for her to gain much weight, even if she'd like to, but she's not sickly thin. Thankfully. Not that it matters, anyways, because the physical appearance has nothing to do with how someone behaves, or how loyal they are to their friends. It's what's on the inside that counts. However cliché that may be.Despite her rather average physique, her hair certainly weighs about double the amount that she weighs already. Her hair falls in springy, rather frizzy curls along her shoulders, and if pulled to its full extent? It would more than likely reach the middle of her back. Unfortunately, there was no way to straighten her hair out completely without the use of an exceedingly strong glamour charm. She has a set of warm brown eyes are usually alight with interest, or distant while she's in the middle of a deep thought. She can usually be seen brushing her hair out of her eyes in order to see things in front of her better, but also cannot be bothered to find a headband to keep her hair at bay, either. While at school, she would go about her day in the customary Gryffindor attire most of the time consisting of the skirt and sweater vest; but while in her muggle clothing, she chooses to avoid skirts unless it's for a special occasion. But being that her life is far from being a 'special occasion' as of late? Dresses and skirts have remained in her closet at home. She prefers to be in a pair of pants or shorts, and often a sweater and a light tee shirt. They're simple enough, and easy to move around in. |
Personality. Hermione Granger often comes off as being a stuck-up, 'insufferable know-it-all'. While it is true that she is a 'know-it-all', she is far from being stuck-up. Upon first meeting Hermione one would definitely assume that she is that way, though. She can often come off as indifferent or cold, especially if she's in a hurry or has something on her mind. Once Hermione has something on her mind, she's not likely to just drop it because someone has approached her and is attempting to make conversation. She's not interested in smalltalk, much, and would prefer to simply just avoid it all together, which can often give off the impression that she doesn't necessarily care, and is only concerned about what she is doing. It's far from the truth, but it tends to be the common consensus if someone doesn't take the time to know her on more than just a first-meeting basis.Despite her acclaimed cleverness, Hermione can display her weaker and more vulnerable side, especially when it comes to dealing with tragedy. Hermione cries when her feelings are hurt, but generally tends to hold them back if she's around anyone she doesn't consider to be a close friend or family to her - she'd rather not allow others to know that she's weaker than she appears to be. This was displayed in their sixth year, when her eyes fell upon Ronald Weasley when he was devouring Lavender Brown's face. Her heart completely crushed into a billion pieces when taking in the scene before her eyes. It was absolutely disgusting. Then later that year, Dumbledore had been murdered, tugging on her heartstrings even more. How come everyone was disappearing? Well, one thing was for certain, she wasn't going to allow herself to lose anyone else that she cared about. Especially not any of the Weasleys and Harry, for they meant far too much to her. Friendship is and was ultimately the most important thing for her, aside from her family. Her family, however, was rather safe in Muggle London. But Ron and Harry weren't. Especially Harry. She'd never dream of betraying her friends, and would rather die than do so. They are an enormous part of who Hermione is now, given that she has changed over the years. She still has an obsessive compulsiveness to read and learn everything she possibly can, but marks in school are no longer of the utmost importance to her, but rather love and friendship are, now, and it was Harry and Ron who had taught her about friendship. She would risk her life for the pair of them. But her world has changed drastically since that first year at Hogwarts when the three of them first became friends. She has completely fallen in love with Ronald Weasley, and is still best friends with Harry Potter, of course, but things have gotten worse. Through all of the casualties they have to experience, she's had to feign some happiness, and shed some unwanted tears over the death of people that shouldn't have died. Their future is uncertain, but one thing is certain - Hermione would rather die than let anything happen to Harry and Ron, and she intends to do so. Hermione is as determined as they come. When she sets her eye upon something that she wishes to achieve, all others should take it upon themselves to move out of the way before she whirls past them, literally or not. She won't let just one thing stand in the way of her desires, and she has overcome many obstacles over the years; both physically and mentally. There have already been casualties in her young life, not to mention being petrified during her second year of schooling, both of which she has overcome with as much grace and strength as she could muster at the time. Through all of her experiences, she has only grown more strong and determined to make it through the rest of her life. Preferably alive. Now that the war has passed and most of the people she cares for in the world are still alive and with her, her determination has been focused elsewhere. She's avidly working towards her position within the Ministry to continue her work with the house-elves and other various animals that need her help. Paranoia has not yet faded that something else may happen, that the former Death Eaters may rise to the occasion, but she does not let it consume her life. She figures it is best to be aware, at the very least, that something could happen. • Fears: Harry and Ron dying. She's terrified that if they die that she'll be on her own again. They've helped her through so much over the years and she loves them both more than anything and would sacrifice everything she has for the pair of them. • Likes: Ron. Reading. Knitting. Rain. Snow. Sweaters. New parchment. New quills. Sugar quills. The colour blue. • Dislikes: Losing at chess to Ron. Gossip. Heights. Flying. Being proved wrong. Spilling her ink. Arguing with Ron. • Quirks / Habits: Hermione wrinkles up her nose when she's thinking about something, and is often scowling when she's disgusted or insulted by someone or something. She has a habit of biting her lower lip while she's in deep thought and will often have a stoic or stern expression on her face. |
Strengths & Weaknesses. Strengths:The thick of Hermione's strength lies within her textbooks. It's the one place where danger cannot permeate her bubble, and it's always been a source of comfort for her ever since she was a young child. Her parents had read to her each night before bed, and thus cause her obsession for books and the thirst for knowledge. She has the ability to recall nearly every spell and incantation that she has read within her books, and she also has a rather annoying knack of memorizing the books to the point of obsession. Caring for other can also be considered a strength, though Ron would probably rather refer to it as nagging. On the outside, she may seem rather cold and cut-off from the rest of the world if they are not directly connected to her, but that is far from the case. Hermione is constantly worrying about other individuals well-being and making sure that they are alright, especially in a time such as this. Harry and Ron, however, are a different story. She's able to completely be herself around them, and not have to worry about being judged too quickly. They may fight quite often, but that's what makes their relationship all the more stronger and able to withstand the stress that they have been having to deal with ever since their first year. Together. They enable her to be a stronger person and to strive for more than she initially did when she first came into the world of magic. They make her want to be a better person, and to succeed not just for her own life, but for theirs as well. Weaknesses: In addition to them being her strength when darkness attempts to devour them, Harry and Ron are also her number one weakness. If anything were to ever happen to either one of them, there's quite a good chance that Hermione would fall into a serious state of depression. They're close enough to be her family, and she can honestly say she loves them more than life itself. Because for her, they are her life. Especially one in particular. Hermione can also have a bit of a temper on her, which can get her into trouble. It's not as severe as Ron's is by any means, but while around him? She chooses not to hold back what she thinks of him at that particular moment; she doesn't necessarily care if she hurts his feelings while she's telling him what an ignorant ponce he's being, but will later apologise for it. She is incredibly stubborn, as well, and simply must have everything her way, and have it be completely perfect when she does it. It can get annoying to be around her when that determination takes over, but it's simply another side to her. Though sometimes she can become a bit mental. |
Family. • John Granger. Muggle Dentist. While Hermione is close to both of her parents, she has always felt just a little bit closer to her father. He was the one that turned her onto reading and she's loved it ever since she was a little girl. He's not the 'manliest' of men by any means, but she knows that her father would do absolutely anything to protect her from harm. She enjoys having in-depth conversations with her father about various things, but it is usually literature. • Eilene Granger. Muggle Dentist. When her Hogwarts letter arrived, her mother was the least accepting of this idea. It took her a week or so to finally come around to it, but since then she has been supportive of Hermione with everything that her daughter strives to accomplish. Her mother has always been there for her, and would often at least attempt to talk to her about her relationship with Ron. When she was younger Hermione would reject those types of conversations, but she's gotten more comfortable with talking to her about her relationship. |
History. Hermione was born to two muggle dentists in the wake of the morning on September the nineteenth in the year of 1979. They had elected to name her 'Hermione' in an attempt to be clever; the name Hermione originated from Shakespeare's play "The Winter's Tale." Her middle name was derived from her grandmother, to whom had passed away just after Hermione was born.Hermione, needless to say, had a decent childhood. Her parents were well off financially, and even though they were not rich, they gave their daughter everything she would ever need. But they should have known that there was a problem when their precious only child snubbed a barbie doll away that her mother had bought her because all of the little girls had been playing with barbies. Hermione thought it was a woolly toy, and that all children needed to be learning instead of playing; hence her love for books. However, when her mother then purchased her a Librarian Doll, Hermione instantly took to it and clung to it for most of her young life. When entering the first grade, however, she had already grown out of it and was instantly interested in reading and learning more. Of course by that time she had already learned to read, and was submerged in reading the volume of encyclopedias her parents kept upon the bookshelf. School had always been something that she was interested in, regardless of the fact that she had little to no friends while she was there. Her classmates all loathed her because she was so intelligent at her age; plus they thought her to be a bit 'odd', due to her appearance and her actions. Hermione didn't mind it much, though, which already proved that she was a rather strong young woman emotionally. Upon the summer after she had turned eleven years of age, she had received a rather curious letter in the mail that had arrived by means of an owl. Yes, Hermione Jean Granger, a seemingly normal muggle, had been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her parents were shocked of course, but Hermione was even more astonished. How could this be? This was.. absurd! But all at the same time, it was very enthralling. After her parents had taken her to Diagon Alley for the first time to get the items that she would need for her new school, they nearly had a fit from the abnormality of it all. Witches and Wizards existed only in fairy tales, after all! And while her parents believed it to be a bit wonky? Hermione found it fascinating. After bidding a sorrowful goodbye to her parents, she had boarded the Hogwarts Express, and much to her parents dismay, vanished from their lives for an entire year- even though she wrote once a week. Upon boarding the train, Hermione met up with a rather flustered looking boy named Neville Longbottom, who had coincidentally lost his toad. Hermione, the lovely, bossy young girl that she was, set out down the corridors of the Express to find his toad for him. When approaching Harry and Ron's compartment, however, she heard the foolish red-haired boy muttering a silly spell, and quickly reprimanded him for it. But she quickly realized who the boy sitting next to him was. Harry Potter! The boy she had read all about in the Magical History books! He was the boy who lived! She saw a lot of Ron and Harry after their first encounter on the train, but the two boys just merely thought she was an annoying little know-it-all that they'd never be friends with. Boy were they ever wrong, because one incident truly bonded them for eternity. A fully grown mountain troll was let into Hogwarts castle on the evening of Halloween, and Hermione had locked herself into the girls bathroom- crying. Harry and Ron immediately came to the rescue, whether they liked her or not, and saved her life from the wretched creature- and Hermione had took the blame for the entire thing. After all, students were instructed to head straight to their dormitories to avoid any confrontations with the creature. Needless to say, they quickly bonded as best friends. Later in the year, they faced a much larger challenge- against Voldemort himself. Hermione and Ron had helped Harry as far as they could before they had to turn back (or rather Hermione did to go take Ron to the Hospital Wing), and alone Harry faced You-Know-Who. Second year only brought more trouble, considering they now faced the problems of the Chamber of Secrets- and Hermione's life was in danger because she was a 'Mudblood.' After brewing a much regrettable Polyjuice Potion, and turning into half of a cat (much to Ron's humour), Hermione had decided it was time to do research on the monster that was brewing within the Chamber itself. After reading through about twenty textbooks, she finally came across exactly what it was, and how it was traveling about the castle the way it was. And then, what should happen? She got petrified by the rotten thing. Upon waking much later in the hospital wing, she came to find out Ron and Harry had beat it. Thank Merlin for Harry finding her scribblings. Third year wasn't as chaotic; they only had a murderous raving lunatic after them. Or rather, after Harry. But no big deal, right? Right. Actually, it had just been Sirius Black, Harry's Godfather to which they later found out about during a trip to Hogsmeade. Also during this year, Hermione had purchased herself a bandy-legged ginger cat named Crookshanks- to which Ron immediately took to loathing. But the feeling was quite mutual. After getting attacked by the Whomping Willow, they had finally found out the truth about Sirius, Remus, and Pettigrew; but of course Hermione already knew Lupin's secret. After all, she is the Brightest Witch of her Age! Fourth year brought drama relating to her intimate life, considering the Yule Ball was fast approaching upon them- and Ron had invited her to go with him last minute, but she was already going with someone. The 'Bulgarian Bon Bon' Viktor Krum, actually. And much to Ronald's dismay, as well as Harry's, she refused to tell them who she was attending the ball with until the actual dance itself. But there was much more to fourth year than just a silly ball. For instance, this began Hermione's obsession with helping needy House-Elves, as well as trying to get people to join her new organization, Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare.. Or in easier terms- S.P.E.W. This was much to Harry and Ron's annoyance, for she forced them to join, whether they liked it or not. The tasks were dangerous for Harry, and through the entire year? Hermione was worried for Harry's safety. She helped him every chance she could in order to make sure he was safe, and nothing horrible would happen to him. Little did she know, that it had in the Third Task, for Harry came face-to-face with Voldemort once again, and this time he had to witness a fellow student's death, Cedric Diggory, and saw his parents that night due to 'Priori Incantatem.' Hermione tried to comfort him as best as she knew how during this wretched time, but she also needed comforting herself. Everything was about to change for them. Fifth year came with the creation of 'Dumbledore's Army', or better known as 'The D.A.'. Almost everyone save for Slytherins had joined (predictably.). Hermione came up with the splendid idea of charming galleons to alert members of this defensive organization as to when the next meeting would be. Things were, if at all possible, even more stressful than their past years together. With everything that was happening around them, and with Harry pushing herself and Ron away, it was no wonder she drowned herself in working on S.P.E.W, and The D.A. Upon entering the Department of Mysteries, things took a considerable turn for the worst when Death Eaters showed up; along with the 'death' of Sirius Black. It pained her to know he was gone, but even more so to what she knew Harry would, and should, be feeling. But even more tragedy was bound to strike up the next school year. First getting into the 'Slug Club', and fighting with Ron was only the beginning of the drama. During this time, she wanted nothing more than to rip Lavender's disgusting blonde hair right out of her head and burn it to ashes she hated her so much; and the hatred was equally spread to Ron as well. How could he have possibly done this to her? It only served him right she attacked him with her conjured birds! Right foul git, he was! Hearing her name being uttered from Ron in his sleep in the Hospital Wing, however, is something that made her lighten around him considerably. 'Er-My-Nee' kept replaying within her head for weeks after that. And then, much to her pleasure, him and Lavender broke it off. Thank bloody Merlin. Things seemed back to normal, or as normal as things could get while at Hogwarts. That was, however, until the Death Eaters attacked the school, the murder of Headmaster Albus Dumbledore falling right along with it as well. It was then that they had concluded they would not be returning for their seventh and final year at Hogwarts. Hermione, as can be expected, was troubled by this notion at first. Her education and hiding within her books had been a secure place for her, and now she didn't know where she was headed. But she was willing to do any and everything she possibly could for Harry. That's what best friends were for, after all, right? The night when the rescue commenced for Harry at the Dursleys turned out to be a right mess. She had been one of the first people back to the Burrow, just as the plan had been - but Ron (among others) missed their portkeys. George had lost his ear, and Mad-Eye had lost his life. The entire situation was finally becoming real, and she half wanted to wish that this wasn't her life. That she could just be normal and not have to worry. But with Voldemort and his Death Eaters at large, that was simply not an option. Despite herself, Hermione had already begun the preparations for the upcoming war, which she knew was rapidly approaching. Ron had put his ghoul into his clothing to make it seem as if he had spattergroit - an extremely contagious illness. Hermione had modified her parents memory, making them convinced that their true names are now Wendell and Monica Wilkins, and that their life's ambition was to move to Australia - which they did. And they also believe that they have never had a child, either. Her and Ron have become exceptionally close. He's always putting his arm around her for comfort, and while at first it startled her - now she prefers when he does this. They're small signs of affection, yes, but signs none the less. Though she's completely oblivious to the fact that everyone expected this to happen sooner or later, even if deep in her heart she knew, as well. Bill and Fleur's wedding, overall, turned out to be a disaster. The ceremony had been lovely, and she had even got to see Viktor again. Granted, Ron had quickly whisked her off to dance with him when he approached, but it had been nice to see him again, admittedly. They were soon swarmed with Death Eaters and Ministry officials, and had no choice but to depart right then and there. And after being attacked at the muggle café, they decided it was best to stay at Number Twelve Grimmauld Place. Surprisingly, Kreacher warmed up to not only Ron and Harry, but to Hermione as well. Once they had given him the fake locket, that is, especially since he didn't know the difference between the real and fake one. The three of them had devised a plan to break into the Ministry of Magic, and to get the real locket off of Umbridge. They used Polyjuice Potions to transfigure themselves into Ministry workers, and proceeded in that way. They had narrowly escaped the Death Eaters when trying to leave the Ministry, and once they had apparated out - the secrecy of Number Twelve had been broken, and they had no choice but to find a safe spot to camp out. Hermione set up a tent, as well as protection wards around them so that no one would find their hiding place. They would camp out for a few days, and then leave. The pattern continued for quite some time, and their tempers only rose with this, coupled with the fact that they hardly had any food. Ron's temper lead to him stomping out on Harry and Hermione for weeks. She had tried to call him back, but it had been too late - he had already disapparated by the time she had gotten out there. She cried herself to sleep on most nights, and admittedly looked like hell. But she didn't care. Ron had left. Her own emotions and doubts were running haywire, and she was powerless to stop any of it from happening. At last she consented to go to Godric's Hollow with Harry, consequently on the Eve of Christmas. It was painful, even for her, to see James and Lily's graves. She had sucked up her own emotions for Harry's benefit, and had merely held his hand with gentle squeezes from time to time. As they walked through the snow, arms around one another for warmth and comfort, it took all she could muster not to break down when seeing Harry's old home, to which he hadn't lived within for very long at all. But it had been nice to see where her best friend once lived, and to imagine the life he would have had, had his fate not been decided upon. Had he not been the boy-who-lived. Hermione didn't want to follow Bathilda into her home, but did so despite her instincts screaming at the top of their lungs at her. Once Harry had disappeared upstairs, Hermione pilfered the untouched copy of The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore by Rita Skeeter, and placed it into her expandable handbag. But soon there was a crash from above - where Harry had been taken. Hermione had run up the stairs and grabbed Harry, avoiding the thrashing Nagini upon the ground. In her haste, Harry's wand had been snapped in two, but it had been more important to get them out alive. Though she does feel incredibly guilty about it. The pair of them had gone into hiding once more, each of them getting on one another's nerves. Hermione on Harry's, moreso. Luckily, this tension was soon alleviated - Ron had returned. Eyes had opened to Harry waking her up, and Ron standing in the doorway of the tent. She had stood and slowly strode over to him. Without warning, yells began to shout from her mouth, and she began to relentlessly punch him out of rage for him just abandoning them. A look of pure maniac had overcome her, and she had threatened him with her wand. Harry managed to break them apart, but that didn't stop Hermione from being incredibly angry with the youngest Weasley son. It was Ron, however, that had destroyed the locket that had once belonged to Regulus Black - one of the seven horcruxes. Hermione had expressed, however, her interest in going to visit Xenophilius Lovegood. He had to have had information on the symbol she had been worrying over for the past few weeks, ever since she had gotten the book that Dumbledore had left to her. Granted, she knew he had to be an odd old man, given that he was Luna's father of all people, but Harry had been the one to figure out what was going on before her or Ron had. Xenophilius had called for the Ministry to tell them Harry was here. Luna had been taken by them, and this was his only way to get his only daughter back. While Hermione understood and had sympathy, she could not let them take Harry. She had managed to think quickly, and by letting them at least see Harry, she hoped that Xeno would receive his daughter back. She had blasted a hole through the Lovegood's home, and the three of them had narrowly made it. Again. The three of them set up camp yet again, and at long last - Ron had finally got his wireless to work. He had guessed the password, and they immediately recognised the voices as their loved ones. It had been such a relief to just hear them, that Hermione had been near tears, but she was more astonished than anything - they at last had some information regarding their world, after all. And then Harry had gone and said the very word that had been Taboo'd - Voldemort. Their cover was blown, and the protection wards they had set up had been instantly taken down because of his mistake. When questioned, Hermione stated firmly that her name was Penelope Clearwater, once a fellow Ravenclaw student at Hogwarts. Unfortunately for them, the Snatchers didn't buy it. They were accompanied, however, by Dean Thomas. It was a pleasant surprise, indeed - she just had hoped it wouldn't be in these circumstances that they would meet again. The group of prisoners were apparated back to Malfoy Manor by Fenrir Greyback, and Scabior. The Malfoy Manor had become the new Headquarters for Voldemort and his followers. Draco identified Harry, Ron, and Hermione when asked - but only after hesitating. Hermione had stared at him for a moment, wondering what had been going through his head as he looked at them and spoke. He certainly didn't seem like he wanted to sell them out, but what other choice did he have, really? He was fighting for his life just as much as they were. But things had taken a horrible, horrible turn for her. Bellatrix had forced them to leave her up there with her. Interrogating, no less, but Hermione wasn't budging. Asking her all about Godric Gryffindor's sword, but she couldn't very well tell her that it was the real thing! Otherwise it'd be taken from them. Instead, she continued to insist that it was merely a fake. But every time she did, Hermione was hit with the Cruciatus Curse, her screams of pain echoing off the walls of the Malfoy Manor. She had distantly heard Ron's screams for her, but her own were too overpowering. She had never felt pain such as this before. She had had the curse placed upon her at least a dozen times in such a short span, and her own consciousness was wearing off, she felt completely weak and helpless, praying that Bellatrix would just do her the favour and kill her right then and there, taking her out of her misery. Ron and Harry had gotten out of the room they had been locked in, and once Bellatrix had been through torturing the oldest and only female of the Trio, she released Hermione over to Greyback so he could have her. Ron had come to her rescue, but Bellatrix had been too quick. She had picked up Hermione, quite unconscious by now, and held a knife to her throat. Ron and Harry had dropped their wands in order to protect her, but once she tried to hand Miss Granger over to Greyback once more - the chandelier fell upon Hermione, Bellatrix fleeing away from it. Ron had run to pull Hermione from the rubble, while Dobby revealed himself as the one to whom had dropped the chandelier to protect them. Harry seized them a group of wands that he had disarmed, and they all disapparated to Shell Cottage, where Bill and Fleur now lived. Hermione was incredibly weakened by what had happened to her, and took Fleur's care gratefully. Harry had been digging a grave for Dobby with Dean and Ron's help, and once completed, they felt the need to hold a small ceremony for him. Hermione had staggered over to them, completely pale and unsteady as she walked. Ron had slipped his arm around her, and she was grateful for his touch and support. Her head had fallen upon his shoulder, and she watched tiredly as they buried Dobby, tears springing forth from her eyes almost instantly. But their next adventure was fast approaching - they needed to break into Gringotts and get the Goblet of Hufflepuff, one of the final horcruxes. Griphook, the goblin, had helped them considerably. Hermione had taken the Polyjuice Potion in order to transform into Bellatrix Lestrange so she could properly get into the vault. Travers, however, had intervened on their plan, but Harry took care of him when he Imperio'd him, along with many of the goblins there so as they wouldn't be caught. They had forgotten one think, however - the Thief's Downfall. The waterfall had washed them free of their disguises, and Harry had no choice but to Imperio Bogrod again, the goblin that had been steering their cart. Once in the vault, any and everything they touched would multiply - and burned them. At last Harry had finally gotten the Goblet, but Griphook had made it out of there with Godric Gryffindor's sword. Cutting loose the dragon, the three of them had climbed onto its back, and were flown out of Gringotts. Hermione was severely burned from all of the artifacts in the vault, but after they had dropped into the water from the dragon's back and dabbed on the essence of dittany to their singed skin. Hermione had pulled out clothes for them all, and they had quickly changed into them, but it was Harry who she had become increasingly worried about. He kept having visions of Voldemort, and now they were being coerced to go into Hogsmeade, and from there - Hogwarts. Her heart had been beating so hard that she was convinced it was going to explode out of her chest the moment the three of them had apparated into Hogsmeade village. Warnings boomed, and Death Eaters had run immediately to the scene. They just narrowly avoided spells aimed at them, though the clock wouldn't permit any to pass, anyways. Darting into an alley, Hermione had been positive they were done for when Harry had had no choice but to cast his Patronus. Help, however, came when they were ushered into the Hog's Head by Dumbledore's brother himself - Aberforth. They were safe at last. After eating the food they had been offered, Aberforth had sent his sister, Ariana, from the portrait above his mantelpiece to go and get someone. When she returned, she most definitely wasn't alone - Neville was there. Hermione had clapped her hands in joy and hugged him tightly. Neville lead them into the Room of Requirement, where other members of the D.A. had been waiting, as well. Apparently Hogwarts had pretty much been taken over by Death Eaters. While Luna had taken Harry to the Ravenclaw Common Room, Ronald had thought of something utterly brilliant to kill the Horcruxes with - Basilisk fangs. The two of them scampered off and into the girls lavatory. There was one small flaw in this plan, however - neither one of them could speak Parseltongue. Ron, so it seems, had practiced the way Harry had said it once before, and after a few tries - it opened. Hermione had to dodge Moaning Myrtle from following them, which wasn't a very easy feat, but she managed it. Together they gathered their arms full of the fangs they had pulled from it's skull. When they came out again, Harry had been looking all around for them. But once Hermione explained where they were and what they had been doing, he understood. But the war was fast approaching, Voldemort and his Death Eaters were already beginning to fight. And Ron, out of the blue, had begun to talk about the house elves in the kitchen. Hermione eyes grew glossy and wide, and a sudden rush had come over her. The fangs tumbled from her arms and onto the floor as she practically flung herself at Ronald, pulling him into an intense kiss. It was now or never, wasn't it? They could die at any moment! But the battle had begun. And Harry knew exactly where to find the remaining Horcrux. They went with him back to the Room of Requirement, but they weren't the only ones there - Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle were just behind them. In trying to prevent Harry from getting the diadem, Crabbe set fires aflame in the Room. Hermione had climbed onto the back of a broom with Ron, clinging to him for dear life - she really did hate flying. When they crashed out of the Room, the diadem looked as if it was melting. Of course! The fire had been Fiendfyre! The cursed fire, and one of the substances that destroys Horcruxes! But as they got up, two Weasleys had passed them by the names of Fred and Percy. But before they even had time to react, a killing curse had been shot through the air. Hermione had been blown back, and Harry had helped her up, but there wasn't time to dawdle, as they had to get down to the Whomping Willow. And fast. After stopping the tree from thrashing, they entered the tunnel, but couldn't actually go in. Instead, they had to watch from behind a crate, and witness Severus Snape's death. Hand had come over her mouth, and tears sprang to her eyes - he had been trying to protect them after all! Harry took the strands of memory that Snape allowed him to in his final moments, and the Trio made their way back to the castle and into the Great Hall. Hermione and Ron went over to his family, where Lupin and Tonks lay motionless upon the ground. She convulsed into tears while her and Ginny held one another, shaking her head against the younger girl's shoulder - this just wasn't right! While still in Great Hall, Harry had left and made the ultimate decision - to sacrifice himself. He told no one, and when Hagrid stumbled out of the forest holding his body while everyone from the Great Hall ushered outside, Hermione had cried out in terror. Her best friend was dead. No, this couldn't be happening. She had turned to Ron and gripped him tightly, crying for about the dozenth time this evening. Hope had been lost, and her heart ached considerably. She felt as if all of the air in the world couldn't fill her lungs back up, and that she was very near suffocation. Everyone had run back into the Great Hall as Neville destroyed the last and final Horcrux - Nagini. Hermione was battling against Bellatrix Lestrange, Ginny and Luna at her side when Mrs. Weasley pushed them out of the way and finished her off. And then, as if her prayers had been answered, Harry appeared. Her heart jumped and her breathing stopped. It was really him! And he was alive. People moved to the sides while him and Voldemort circled one another, Hermione's eyes watching the pair of them with minimal blinking. Her breath caught in her throat, and her heart was pounding. One or the other was going to die, and her bias towards Harry was trying to win her over. And once and for all, Voldemort had fallen. Hermione screamed and bounded towards her best friend, pulling him against her in a tight hug. "Oh, you're alright!" she had cried into his ear, and pulled back to allow Ron to come as well. The Great Hall had cleared, and the bodies had been dragged out. The House tables were set up once more, but Harry had alternate plans. He took Hermione and Ron to Dumbledore's office where he had repaired his wand with the Elder Wand. The wizarding world was finally at peace, but that didn't stop her from being completely jittery by the prospect. After the war, Hermione had stayed with Ron and Harry for as long as possible before she made her way to Australia to find her parents and reverse the memory charm she had placed upon them. She explained to them what happened, and the reunion was a teary-eyed one at best. Hermione was disgruntled about having missed her final year at Hogwarts, but soon returned to take her N.E.W.T. level exams, and passed each and every one of them with an 'Outstanding' mark, save for Arithmancy in which she received an 'Exceeds Expectations'. Shortly after, she received her position in the Ministry in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, albeit not a fantastic position but a job was a job, all while living comfortably at home with her parents. It was not long after that Hermione elected to purchase a flat on her own, and has since been trying to work up the courage to invite Ronald to move in with her. |
